For a town of just over 28,000 people (as of 2020 count), an astonishing 99% have at least one park within one mile of their home. The closest resort is Eldora, just 38 miles from Erie, with 680 skiable acres and 53 trails.
Erie is well known for their various annual community events, from Breakfast with Santa and Boo! On Briggs Street, to Movies in the Park and a Fourth of July fireworks show. The Erie Chamber hosts Concerts in the Park, the annual Town Fair and Hot Air Balloon Festival, Brewfest, and the Wine Festival.
There is a thriving local art scene in the area. The Arts Coalition of Erie includes 70 artists in and around town. Places where you can check out these artistic creations? The Erie Community Center and High Plains Library showcase different shows every 2 months. The Art Centre of Erie also holds performing art shows year-round.
